Synergy has always been passionate about supporting our local community, so one year ago we teamed up with The Penny Rose, a Santa Cruz-based style blog, to create an exclusive capsule of co-designed items to be included in our Spring 2015 line. As longtime friends and mutual admirers of one another’s work it was the perfect match, blending eco-consciousness with innovative fashion.
In the early part of 2014, we met several times and together designed four items that you’ll see rolling out this season. Included in the group are two tops and two dresses. Each style has a timeless, distinct, versatile flavor. We hope you’ll enjoy our collaborative capsule as much as we did creating it.
Look for upcoming posts on our blog and on The Penny Rose blog featuring these four collaborative designs as well as a short film about the project in April on The Penny Rose and on our blog.
It’s officially Spring, and while that brings with it some much needed sunshine and blossoms, it also marks a year long pandemic anniversary. It’s wild to acknowledge how long we’ve all been in this; learning, changing, adapting, improvising in every way of being.
Awareness of the earth’s natural rhythms harmonizes us with her cycles, it helps us align our personal cycles with nature’s, which can give us more grounding and ease in an often unstable world. As the renowned author Joseph Campbell said, “The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature.” The equinoxes and solstices of the year give us the perfect opportunity to do just that.
December 21st marks the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, where many cultures celebrate the first day of winter or “mid winter.” On this day the sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky, which means it is the shortest day and longest night of the year.
